New Therapies for Chronic Autoimmune Diseases
On 1 November 2015, the new H2020 project RELENT has started. RELENT is coordinated by Prof. Dr. Renate Kain from the Medical University in Vienna. The project goal is to develop better therapies for chronic autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis and vasculitis. The consortium aims to identify common mechanisms responsible for the persistence and outcomes in these diseases that cause considerable mortality and morbidity. The results should be rapidly translatable into clinical practice for the benefit of patients. RELENT combines the resources of seven leading European research institutions and two from the US and Australia. Three SMEs will supply specific reagents and translate the results to biomarker development.
